September, 2007 Greetings From Door County! A few quick points of interest this evening before it gets too late. As I drive around the County from one of our orchards to another, I am starting to see some leaves changing from green to fall colors. I think there will be lots more color in a week or two, but it is starting to show now. Weather this week has been warm and sunny. Just the kind of weather you come to Door County to enjoy! Also we are into our Honeycrisp Apple harvest. I know many of you are patiently waiting for our Honeycrisp. Our dry summer has given us more of a medium size Honeycrisp, not the large ones we have had in past years. But they have the great Honeycrisp flavor you expect. If we get our Honeycrisp crop harvested as we hope, we should have plenty of Honeycrisp to supply our retail stores to the holidays. For the first time, we are offering our second grade Honeycrisp in the market. So if you like to cook with Honeycrisp, or don’t mind a few skin blemishes; these seconds have great Honeycrisp flavor at a reduced price. Our bakery is now fully operational with the addition of our Fudge counter. We are making and sampling our Fudge right in the market now. And of course cherry strudel continues to be our “Honeycrisp” bakery item. Janice’s fall displays are very attractive and fully stocked. Lot of crafts and gourds for your home decorations are displayed for you to browse. Of course you are welcome to spend a lot of time sampling many of our food items and exploring our craft and gift items. Hope to see you this fall in Door County.
