July 2009
Greetings from Door County,
SUMMER IS HERE !!!!! even in Door County.
The temperatures have been in the 80's for the last three days. We have not gotten much rain, so we are irrigating our apples, raspberries, strawberries and asparagus.
Just a quick update on current fruits and vegetables.
We have STRAWBERRIES at the market now. We are just starting our picking and should have them for about three weeks, depending on the weather.
The tart cherries are still green and should be ripe about the middle of July.
We should have sweet cherries in about two weeks.
We still have asparagus and only a limited amount of rhubarb.
We will keep you updated as the fruit progresses in maturity.
With the weather as beautiful as it is, take time for a relaxing drive to Door County and while you're here be sure to stop at the Wood Orchard Market.
Until next time,
Take care and say hi when you're at the market.
